How will my facial structure change after getting braces for posterior crossbite?

i had one orthodontist tell me that my jaw may be a bit longer? just wanted to hear from anyone who has had theirs treated or knows what i should expect afterwardsHow will my facial structure change after getting braces for posterior crossbite?
Hi, I had a crossbite before I had braces. Braces will defintetly NOT change your facial structure. That's the good thing about braces, they only change your teeth. They move around your teeth inside your mouth and along your jaw and will not move around your jaw or any other facial structures. If your crossbite is really bad you may need jaw surgery (but your orthodontist will tell you that). You will probably only need braces because this is commong problem and can be easily solved. With my crossbite i had braces for a little over a year and had to use rubber bands to move my teeth around. You should expect a huge change within the first year of having braces. Just remember braces do not move your jaw around, they only move around your teeth inside your mouth and will NOT change your jaw/facial structure.
